Specifications

  • We’ve designed this beauty intending to make a durable and powerful women’s splitboard you can rely on in any conditions. The authors of this ultimate design are Nelina and Vaga.art, the Flamenell girls. For us, it was love at first sight.

Specifications

This splitboard offers excellent performance, easy control in powder and high durability while remaining light.

We don’t like that girls often get overlooked in board sports. That’s why we got in touch with the girls from Flamenell. The result of our cooperation is this ultimate splitboard.

For better off-slope riding, we’ve made the tip a different shape than the tail. The tip is slightly broader before the effective edges to keep it above the powder. The tail is about 1cm shorter and slightly narrower behind the effective edges to make the board easier to control while doing short turns in deep snow.

We’ve opted for a directional shape and a slight 2mm taper – the tail is ca 2 mm narrower than the tip. This makes the board agile and quick to react when changing edges.

The overall flex is more on the soft side while maintaining high durability.

To hold the splitboard together, we’re using the Plum hooks. We fix them using M5 inserts placed in slightly raised base plates in the shape of the hooks. Thanks to this, the base doesn’t need to be drilled through (except for the tip and tail rivets).

At the bottom of the construction, there are two layers of kevlar combined with biaxial carbon to achieve maximum stiffness of the bottom layers and high base durability.

Moreover, the unidirectional kevlar stripes give the board high pop and make it more agile. This construction has no adverse effect on the board’s torsion properties and adds minimum weight, making it ideal for a woman’s split.

The top side of the laminate combines biaxial carbon and triaxial fibreglass. The combination of fibreglass and carbon harmonizes the board’s response. It isn’t unnecessarily aggressive while retaining high performance.

Nela, the author of the design, says:

I began designing this board with a bottle of nice wine. I sipped it while thinking about mountains, snow, chilling out and, first and foremost, a beautiful pink board with a soul under my feet.

The points I followed:

  • Point 1: The board will be bright pink (so that no one misses it)
  • Point 2: I’ll throw in a zig-zag element to symbolize mountains and tie the design together nicely.
  • Point 3: Get a beautiful photo of powdered mountain tops and convert it to black and white.
  • Point 4: Call VAGA.ART (Katka Kaplanová) to tell her it would be really cool if she scribbled something onto the photo again. Nothing over the top, just to spice it up a bit so that the design remains simple and to the point.
  • Point 5: Put an outline of our snow flamingo on the board.

And it’s done. I was a bit anxious about the CHOC boys’ response, but it was overwhelmingly positive.

I’m sure that every girl who loves mountains and simple designs will fall in love with this board.

Specifications

Triple woodcore
The core is made from poplar and paulownia with beech wood around the inserts. Along the effective edges, we inserted vertically laminated ash wood. With this kind of reinforcement, the board offers precise carving and high durability.

Carbon-Aramid fabric
Woven triaxial laminate combining carbon and kevlar. It is applied to the bottom side to improve torsion and durability. Its main advantages are low weight and excellent damping properties thanks to the Aramid.

Triaxial fibreglass laminates
The top layers consist of triaxial fibreglass lamination with 0,-45,+45 fibre arrangement. This laminate has excellent torsion properties, ensuring great edge control even at high speeds.
Aramid POP stringers
To maximize the pop of your ollies and allow aggressive edging, we added unidirectional Aramid reinforcements along the bottom part.

Torsional carbon power rails
Reinforcements from unidirectional carbon fibres improve the torsion along the short axis of the board. Their position, weight and width help to optimize the performance. The torsional carbon power rails go from the tips and the tails of the effective edges towards the binding. Thanks to these, the board is easy to control when edging, and it quickly reacts to riders’ movements.

Bombproof edges
The VDO anti-vibration rubber on the joints of the base and the ABS sidewall improves shock absorption and increases durability.

Carbon sintered base
Top-quality sintered carbon base from Germany with extra carbon for a better slide. Hardness 10.6 x10⁶ mol
